Yoga 101 is a four-week immersive course designed to introduce the foundational elements of yoga in a supportive and welcoming environment. held Friday evenings September into October. Together we will explore mindfulness, breath, movement, and the philosophical roots of yoga while building confidence in your practice.
Each session includes discussion, guided reflection, and an accessible movement practice to help students connect the teachings of yoga to both life on and off the mat.

Our Process

MINDFULNESS
In our first week together, we explore awareness. Students will be introduced to mindfulness practices that help bring attention into the present moment and deepen the connection between mind and body.

Breath
In this session, students will learn the basics of yogic breathing and simple pranayama techniques. We will explore how breath can guide and support a steady, grounded practice.

Movement
This session will include a workshop-style exploration of common poses followed by a gentle flow that integrates mindfulness, breath, and movement.

Yogic Living
In our final week, we step beyond the mat to explore how yoga can influence the way we live and relate to the world around us. Drawing from the teachings in The Yamas & Niyamas, we will discuss the principles that form the heart of yogic philosophy.

No prior yoga experience is necessary.
Students will be encouraged to read and reflect on the teachings from The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga's Ethical Practice by Deborah Adele
This book offers a modern and accessible interpretation of yoga’s foundational ethical principles.
in addition, each 2–3 hour session includes conversation, reflection, and an accessible movement practice designed to help students embody what they are learning.
By the end of the course, students will leave with practical tools, along with a deeper understanding of yoga as a holistic practice that extends far beyond the mat.

We will meet Friday’s through the month of September and into October From 7 pm - 9 pm. Starting on September 11th and ending October 2nd.

No prior experience is necessary. This course is designed specifically for beginners or for anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of yoga beyond the physical postures. All practices and movements will be accessible and adaptable for different bodies and experience levels.

Each class will be 2–3 hours long and will include a combination of discussion, guided reflection, breath practices, and a movement-based yoga practice. The goal is to create a learning environment where students can both understand and experience the foundations of yoga.

Yes. Each session includes some form of yoga movement practice. The movement portion will be intentional and accessible, designed to help integrate the themes of the week such as mindfulness, breath, and body awareness.
